Because, if you want to purchase their service just for a month, so you can use it in case something happens during a trip, you're screwed because the benefits (high-end) only kick in seven days after your purchase.
So what should they do? On the main page, have a blurb that says clearly, "Want AAA protection just for one major trip? Remember to purchase at least seven days in advance!"
